The overall socio-economic development goal for Zanzibar by the year 2020, is to eradicate abject poverty and attain sustainable human development.

To tackle some of the development challenges, NDP focus on six broad-based national priorities of: developing diversified sources of economic growth, human capital
development; social development; sustainable use of natural resources; consolidation of good governance and
strengthening of national security; and implementation of an effective monitoring and evaluation system.

The Vision 2036 defines the vision and the aspiratipn of the people of Botswana. It aims to transform Botswana into an high-income country by 2036.

The plan will run for 7 years. NDP places emphasis on creating a conducive environment for the private sector so that it plays a major role in driving economic development. More emphasis will be placed on maintenance of productive infrastructure, providing infrastructure needs for the private sector as an engine for economic growth, and on leveraging additional support for the service export, compared to merchandise export in view of the associated high transport costs.

The statutory instrument is based on the town and country planning act of 1977. The order designates planning areas, and specifies the authority to which functions of the board to grant permission for development are transferred.

The order applies to all planning areas. The order makes clarifications on the types and classes of development that are subject to permission from necessary authorities. It also specifies conditions and limitations guiding all development classes. It outlines the application procedure for planning permissions.

The National Development Plan is a broad strategic framework. It sets out a coherent and holistic approach to confronting poverty and inequality based on six focused and interlinked priorities that include uniting South Africans around a common programmme, building capabilities, faster and more inclusive economic growth, citizens active in their own development, a capable and developmental state and leadership and responsibility throughout society.

This document summarizes the long-term national strategy and development blueprint that covers period 2008 to 2022. The agenda which is based on social and economic pillars aims to boost the livelihood of Kenyans through the increment of Kenya’s gross GDP growth rate by 10% annually. The agenda will be implemented over five-year successive medium-term Plans, starting with MTP I (2008-2012), then MTP II (2013-2017), MTP III (2018-2022) and so on till 2030.

The medium-term Plan (2008-2012) is the first in a series of successive five-year medium-term plans which will implement the Kenya vision 2030. The medium-term plan identifies the key policy actions to implement from 2008 – 2012 to achieve the economic targets of increasing GDP growth from 7% in 2007 to an estimated 7.9-8.7% by 2009-2010 and to 10% by 2012 and also to increase the investment levels at high rate to enhance economic growth and create employment.
It focuses on implementing the flagship projects of the Vision 2030 in the six economic sectors: tourism, agriculture, energy, information & communications technology, business process outsourcing, education, and health.

The second medium-term Plan (MTP II) of the Kenya vision 2030 covering a period of 2013-2017 builds on the achievements of the first medium-term plan and sets to put the economy on high growth to attain the Kenya Vision 2030 targeted annual average growth rate of 10% and increase in gross investment by 10%. The second MTP termed “Transforming Kenya” is pegged on economic growth, stable micro economic environment, commercialization of agriculture, food security, job creation for unemployed youth, provision of policy and legal framework for the management of Kenya’s natural resources and partnership with County government to improve the health sector.

The third medium-term Plan (MTP III) of the Kenya vision 2030 documents the policies, legal framework, programmes and projects the government plans to implement from 2018 to 2022. The plan builds on the achievements of the first and the second plans and focuses on some key national development enablers which include: infrastructure, information and communication technology, science technology and Innovation, public sector reforms, labor and employment, ending drought and security etc. The medium-term plan III also targets to increase GDP growth rate from 5.5 % in 2013-2017 to 5.9% in 2018/2019 and later increase it by 7% annually till the end of medium-term plan III.
