The disaster and risk management plan highlights the holistic and overarching plan of the government covering preparedness, Disaster Risk Reduction,mitigation, prevention, relief, recovery and reconstruction. Preservation of life and reduction in suffering through prompt information on disaster aversion, and promt response in cases of actual disasters. The plan expressly addresses the management activities to be carried out by stakeholders when handling disaster situations. Prominent disasters faced in Rwanda include; droughts, fire, floods, earthquakes, landslides, heavy rain with strong winds, lightning and thunderstorms, traffic accidents, diseases and epidemics
