These rules, made under the dairy industry act, regulate the carrying of milk, i.e.The transporting or storage of milk. Carrying of milk requires a permit to be issued by the Kenya dairy board. The permit shall not be required for: (a) the carriage of milk in such quantities as may be prescribed for that purpose; (b) the carriage of milk in a prescribed pack; (c) the carriage of milk which has been obtained from a prescribed source; or (d) the carriage of milk by a prescribed person or class of persons on terms or conditions which may be prescribed.

These regulations provide for the labelling requirements of pest control product.

This establishes a scheme called the oil and fibre crops scheme, which applies to all plant varieties of oil and fibre crops which conform with the characteristics of cultivated plant varieties of any of the species specified in the first column of the first schedule hereto.

This establishes a scheme called the other cereals scheme, which applies to cereals other than maize which conform to the characteristics of cultivated varieties of any of the species specified in the first column of the first schedule hereto.

This establishes a scheme called the pulses scheme, which applies to all plant varieties of pulses which conform with the characteristics of cultivated varieties of any of the species specified in the first column of the first schedule hereto.

This establishes a scheme called the pasture plants and grasses scheme, which applies to all plant varieties of pasture plants and grasses which conform with the characteristics of cultivated plant varieties of any of the genera or species specified in the first column of the schedule hereto.

These regulations establish authority to known as the Kenya oil crops Development Authority (hereinafter referred to as the “Authority”) for promoting and fostering the effective development of oil crops for the production of oilseeds and vegetable oil, in any suitable area of Kenya. The Authority shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal, and may in its corporate name sue and be sued, and, for and in connection with the purpose of this order, may purchase, sell lease or otherwise acquire or dispose of, hold and manage movable and immovable property, and may enter into such contracts as may be necessary or expedient.

This document emphasizes that no person shall import, cause or suffer any meat or meat products to be imported into Kenya without a valid import permit issued under these regulations. Regulation 6 concerns the inspection of meat products -A person importing meat or meat products pursuant to a permit issued under these regulations shall apply to the inspecting officer for permission to clear such imports not less than twenty-four hours before the arrival of such imports in Kenya.

These regulations emphasizes that no sisal or sisal fiber produced within Kenya shall be sold except through an agent duly licensed under section 7 of the Act, and any person who sells sisal or sisal fiber other than through such an agent shall be guilty of an offence.

These regulations establish a state corporation, to be known as the Nyayo tea zones development corporation (hereinafter called “the corporation”) which shall be a body corporate with a board constituted in accordance with section 6(1) of the Act.

This is a parliamentary Act to confer power to regulate transactions in seeds, including provision for the testing and certification of seeds, for the establishment of an index of names of plant varieties; to empower the imposition of restriction on the introduction of new varieties, to control the importation of seeds, to authorize measures to prevent injurious cross-pollination, to provide for the grant of proprietary rights to persons breeding or discovering new varieties, to establish a tribunal to hear appeals and other proceedings and for connected purposes.

These Regulations implement provisions of the Seeds and Plant Varieties (Plant Breeder’s Rights) Act. The seeds set out in the First Schedule shall be prescribed seeds for purposes of the Act. The National Seed Quality Control Service shall be the official seed testing station for purposes of section 11 of the Act. A Seed Regulation Committee and a Seed Growers Allocation Panel are established under regulations 5 and 6. The Panel shall register seed growers (reg. 8), whereas seeds merchants shall register with the Committee (reg. 9). Regulations 10 and 11 concern the certification of seeds. A seed inspector shall not certify seeds that do not meet standards laid down in the Fourth Schedule. Only registered seed merchants shall process seeds. Regulation 15 contains rules relative to packing and labeling of seeds. Section 20 places restrictions on the importation and exportation of seeds. (23 regulations completed by six Schedules).

All sisal for export shall be baled and fastened in manner required by the board, each bale should labelled or legibly and clearly marked with the date of production, the plantation mark and the grade mark, and other mark as may be required by the board. Regulation 5 and 6 concerns inspection and the duties of the inspector.

It establishes a committee known as the plant breeder’s rights committee to develop plant breeder’s rights policy, with the approval of the minister, to review plant breeder’s rights regulations and standards as may from time to time be required, to make recommendations on the registration of grantees, to moderate cases of appeal by aggrieved persons, to review and recommend appropriate plant breeder’s rights, and to perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the minister.

This is a parliamentary Act that establishes an agricultural finance corporation and to prescribe its powers and duties. The functions of the Corporation shall be to assist in the development of agriculture and agricultural industries by making loans to farmers. co-operative societies. Incorporated group representatives. private companies, public bodies, local authorities and other persons engaging in agriculture or agricultural industries.

These rules primarily concern the establishment of polling stations and elections of members of the board. It emphasizes that every person licensed as a pyrethrum grower during the last three years shall be eligible to vote in accordance with the provisions of these rules.

The dairy industry (sales by producers) regulations, 2004 state that no person shall operate as a producer unless the person holds a licence issued by the board.

The dairy industry (imports citation and exports) regulations. 2004 emphasize no person shall import or export dairy produce without a permit issued by the board. A permit shall be required for each consignment imported or exported. And the application for the issue of an import permit is contained in form 1 in the second schedule of this document.

The first schedule of this document sets out agronomic practices to ensure production of high quality seed potato. Seed potato shall be produced from such stock as may be certified from time to time, and shall be free from pests and diseases, true to variety, and plants of another variety contained in the true variety shall not exceed 0.5% of the weight of a unit of the true variety.

An Act of parliament to provide for the establishment of the agricultural development corporation and for connected purposes. The functions of the corporation are to promote the production of kenya’s essential agricultural inputs as the corporation may decide from time to time, such as seeds and pedigree and high grade livestock including, hybrid seed maize, cereal seed, potato seed, pasture seed, vegetable seed, pedigree and high grade cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and bees; and to undertake such activities as the corporation may decide from time to time for the purpose of developing agricultural production in specific areas or specific fields of production.
